I would like to somehow hook up a trailer behind my pop up tent trailer so i can bring my motorcycle with me when camping….
How can i do this, and is it legal ??
most places require the trailer in front to be a tandem axle trailer…. i doubt your tent trailer has 2 axles, so no, you wouldn’t be legal. if you’re up for swapping trailers, they do make tent trailer toy haulers with a utility trailer type front to them, you have to unload the cargo before the trailer can be unfolded though
Hello,
I’d like to get a light 1-2 person tent suitable for moderate
backpacking, but I don’t want to spend much money. I’ll probably be using it mainly for 1-2 night trips on moderate-difficulty trails, and in good weather to the extent one can predict that. I also may use it in car-accessible campgrounds for longer periods- due to high gas and
an increasingly decrepit car, I am considering visiting national parks via bus and/or hitchhiking, and a compact tent would be nice for that.
So basically I don’t need anything fancy, so long as its not junk that will fall apart on me. How cheap can one go? For example I’ve seen one called a Texsport Knollwood Bivy Shelter for $35 that *seems* like what I’d need…what do you folks think?
I own two 2-person tents from Eureka!. While they are not as light as my Gore-Tex bivy sack, I usually end up taking one of those tents on most of my trips because I like the extra room a tent offers.
While slightly heavier than tents made by other companies, such as Mountain Hardwear, The North Face, and Sierra Designs, the Eureka! tents are much less expensive. I used one of them for an entire summer as a backpacking guide and acquired the other one the next season and used that one on a 21 day trip as well as several other 2-3 day trips.
For the price (both were about $90-$120 MSRP) they have served me well and I have few complaints.
I generally am not a fan of department store brand camping equipment. I’ve led trips where others on the trip were using a tent purchased from a Wal-Mart or K-Mart and they always had some problems with the tents. Usually rain and moisture build-up in the tent caused them to get wet or some part of the tent failed such as the zippers or the stitching came undone in places.
I purchased one of the Eureka! tents in 1999 and the other one came to me in 2000. Both get much use and are doing very well.
Hey there!
We’re going to Burning Man and want to forgo the expensive RV for a less expensive (and more environmentally conscientious) truck tent. I will be bringing a Ford F250 truck with an attached canopy, and am looking for something that seals to the back of the truck and sits on the ground, somewhat like this:

The truck looks like this:

If you have any suggestions I would love to hear them. Used a suitable tent before? I would very much enjoy knowing of your experiences. Especially if you have used one at the famed Burning Man festival (you, of all people, know the harsh environment this tent needs to be able to withstand).
Thank you in advance for your responses!

maybe something like that??
Please help…I am having a garage sale tomorrow for the "community garage sale" and I noticed that the weather network say 100% chance of rain and lightning. I need a way to cover the items that I am selling so they won’t get wet. I do not have any tents or umbrellas. Pleas don’t answer "have it another day".
Thanks
keep it in the actual garage!
I’m doing some wild camping next weekend and need some advice on the tent. I’m currently looking at the vango banshee, coleman avior x2 and a vango spectre 200, any opinions on these tents? I have a limited budget of about £100 max and would like a 3 season tent that has an inner and an outer and is outer up first.
Thanks for any help you can give.

I own the Kelty Teton 2. But, of the three that you mentioned I would choose the Spectre 200. Unless weight is an issue, then my pick would be the Banshee.
the tent was filthy after a trip…so I washed in mild laundry detergent and hosed off…..will it still be waterproof?….does it need to be treated?
no you do not need to water proof the tent again. it is made with water proofing and it will alwase be water proof. you could alwase wash it and you dont have to worry about it.
happy hiking.
I am trying to find a small (10′ x 10′) pop up camper trailer, something light to tow behind a Jeep, just a camper only, don’t need a table, etc, in it. Need something available to be shipped or available from a dealer in Colorado.

I need to find a replacement rain fly for my Ozark Trails 8×8 dome tent (I actually need 2 of them). I can’t find Ozark Trails on the web anywhere. I bought the tent from WalMart, but they don’t sell replacement parts that I’m aware of. I have other tents, so it’s not urgent, but I like to let friends use these & without a rainfly there’s no privacy for changing clothes & it gets cool at night. I’ve been using tarps, but would like to find rainflys if I can.
Check with bass pro shops or cabellas or online camping suppliers. You probably won’t be able to find an exact match, but you should be able to find a similar color that will work since most rainflys have an elasic string with a hook.
My wife and I go beach camping a lot during the summer. We have a very nice Coleman tent, but it doesn’t handle wind very well. I usually sleep with the side of the tent whacking me in the face most of the night.
A "mountaineering" tent is designed for high mountains and high winds which works OK in freezing temperatures, but may be a bit too stuffy (and damp) in moderate climes. Mountain Hardware makes a few excellent models: http://www.rei.com/product/732212
Stephenson’s Warmlite tents with optional stabilizers can survive in winds up to 160 MPH, according to them. http://www.warmlite.com/tents.htm
Here are some tips for setting up any tent in high winds: http://www.bicycletouring101.com/CampTentHighWinds.htm
