A couple of friends and I are planning a three day bike trip. Every night we would pitch a tent. What would be some good food that we could take and it would still be alright to eat after being left in a back pack in almost 80 degree weather?
I would think that your best bet is to take things like granola bars/cereal bars and definitely lots of water. Trail mix would be another great choice, full of lots of nuts, raisins and other dried fruit.

Any suggestions on a great place to camp (tent) near Bishop or Mammoth? Looking for great hiking and fishing?
Monday, March 22nd, 2010Will be headed up there in late August. Looking for some suggestion on great camping sites in Inyo.
Pat I’ve spent quite a bit of time in the Sierra’s, and I have to recommend you hike into the North Palisades. It’s wonderful with quick access to some wonderful lake fishing and views.
From Bishop drive south on the 395 (obviously) to Big Pine, turn right on Glacier Lodge Road. Drive up until it ends at the Glacier Lodge. Take the North Fork trail and it will follow a fabulous river up into alpine meadows and great views. Eventually you’ll connect with First lake (there are like 7 of them) continue on to Second or Third lake of which either one you can’t go wrong. Great fishing, camping spots, views, and it’s a day hike in.

Any recommendations of an itinerary for a week long camping/hiking trip from Vancouver to Banff/Lake Louise?
Sunday, March 14th, 2010Looking for must-see sights and great hikes in the Banff/Lake Louise/Jasper area. We only have a week to make the round-trip from Vancouver. Is there anywhere along the way that is worth stopping for a day? We are big hikers and want as much natural beauty as possible! Also looking for recommended campgrounds – preferrably tent-only places, but we do like flush toilets and showers. Thanks for your help!
You’ll want to stop at Lake Louise and quite close to there is Morraine Lake – beautiful!
Johnston Canyon is between Lake Louise and Banff on the old highway. That is a gorgeous hike up. The ink pots at the top are worth a day trip.
