Tents

For me it was that menstruating women have to remain in special tents for a prescribed number of days. I think this could really pick up tent sales at GI Joes.

Sorry, but nothing beats the hiding away of women every month.

Looking for decent prices on tents in the Winnipeg area -
* Doesn’t need to be uber-backpacker gear, just sturdy enough to last at least this year
* small-ish; 2-person + backpacks
* domes or D-shaped, for example
* bonus points for downtown or heading out the south-east side of the city

If you haven’t seen any specific prices this week, I’d still appreciate any tips on which stores might have a decent tent on sale.

Thanks much, everyone! Ended up spotting a little 2-person dome at Canadian Tire (Regent) at the last minute for $30 – if you were still looking, there were a few on the shelf.

I was in Superstore a few days ago. They had two-person tents for around 50.00 and it was a decent name brand too.
Not sure how cheap you are wanting to go but my husband and I are considering going back to get one!

Im looking for a stuffed animal my sister bought back in the late 80s. She bought it at a walmart tent sale. It is a blue dinosaur or dragon with a pink belly and ears. I found one on a website about a year ago called prehistoricdinosaurs.com but theyhad discontinued it and failed to respond when i emailed them asking for the manufacturer. If anyone has any idea where to find one or any ideas to try please let me know.

With all the current foreclosures there MUST be furniture liquidation sales or furniture estate sales selling contemporary or modern furniture at a cheap price. Does anyone know of any of these types of sales? We’re looking for something nicer than a garage sale because we don’t think we’ll find the quality that we want at a garage sale, perhaps a liquidation sale, a tent sale, a furniture estate sale or a foreclosure sale???

Where I live on the East Coast, we have a warehouse full of furniture from hotels that have redecorated. This warehouse sells everything and most styles are clean and contemporary. I was amazed at the condition of the seating and occasional tables and all those drapes were dirt cheap. I bought a large drapery panel and cut it up to recover some dining room chair seats — $12.00 to cover six chairs.

Another great lead for decent furniture is to go to Auctions. Look in the yellow pages or call some antique dealers or consignment shops for information on local auctions in your area. My sister bought a great French style dining room table and 6 chairs for under $500.

Look in the classified ads for some great deals on used furniture. People are on the move these days and are selling their belongings left and right. Also, search CraigsList.com for people selling furniture in your area.

There is always the GoodWill, the Salvation Army, consignment shops and other thrift stores. If you see something with good lines, but do not like the finish, there are many spray paints and faux painting techniques you can use to transform just about anything. These places have great lamp bases that are a cinch to paint. Check your local home improvement store in the spray paint aisle for an amazing array of paint finishes available these days.

I hope some of my suggestions help you find the home furnishings you desire.

I currently have a 2004 Ford Ranger Edge and I just replaced two cylinder heads and it cost me $2500, and I had no warranty on it either. Anyways, I bought it last July/August at a tent sale and it had one previous owner and no accidents, and well I need more room and I want to trade it in for a car, a sedan or coupe. I still owe 10k on it, but I dont really have that much money for a down payment, and my payments already over $300 and my apr is 19%. I’m looking to trade it in for a 12k-13K car that I want and it’s new. I don’t have the time to sell it myself and I know that I wont get 10k for it. It has 46k miles on it and is in excellent shape. Any suggesstions on what I can do besides privately selling it because I dont wanna have to sell it for what I owe on it and pay the bank and then I would be out of a vehicle, or have someone else take over the payments, I dont trust people, so privately selling is not an option and I don’t want another used car.

Another option is that Carmax will buy used vehicles and then they can roll any difference into a car that you purchase from them. I advise against get to deep into a car and owing much more on it than it is worth.

I bought a SUV from them and got excellent customer service from them.
