I washed my coleman Element Nylon lightweight hiking tent – do I need to waterproof?

the tent was filthy after a trip…so I washed in mild laundry detergent and hosed off…..will it still be waterproof?….does it need to be treated?

no you do not need to water proof the tent again. it is made with water proofing and it will alwase be water proof. you could alwase wash it and you dont have to worry about it.

happy hiking.

The water proofing is in the material itself so it should be fine. There’s only a few tents that I’ve heard of that have to be reproofed once they’ve been washed. Or open up your tent stay inside and have someone lightly sprinkle your tent with a hose and see what happens worst comes to worst you have to let your tent dry again.
