One reason I want a pop up tent is because i figure it would be a good thing to have if it were pooring out..

The traditional tents, there is NO (practical)way to pitch a tent when it is raining, with out it flooding

Am i correct with this thought? Or misled?

i just bought one …
i just bought one of those today! mines blue! but it was a nightmare trying to put it back in lol. couldn’t get it to become circular! then i finally managed it! Can’t wait to use mine at creamfields!

The pop up tent is for really lazy people. They laugh with others when they’re struggeling with the setup of their tent while they just throw theirs in the air. However, The popups are a real pain when you need to put them back into the bag. Now, The best tent to buy if you want to be able to set the tent up in pouring rain is a tunnel tent, which is longer than normal tents (useful when you’re big), but they are a bit less resistent to wind. I reckon it’s still more solid than the pop ups.

With a traditional …
With a traditional two skin tent, put up the outer, leaving the inner rolled up in the bag. It doesn’t matter if the inside of the outer gets wet.

Now take everything into the outer tent, where it’s dry, get the inner tent out of the bag, and hook it into the outer.

I have done this in torrential rain, and ended up with a lovely dry refuge.
